Coal Mining Memories

The Mountain Heritage Festival was started in 1993 and each year the last weekend in September people from the area come back and have a big celebration, getting reacquainted with old friends and relatives and have a great time. It's like a great big fair and thousands come back to the area. The best thing of all there is no liquor allowed in the county of Letcher[where Whitesburg is located] We never saw one bar, not one person drinking, or smelled alcohol and YET EVERYONE WAS HAVING A GREAT TIME!!!!! And so Happy!!
